Maria Eugenia is UNFPA Peru Assistant Representative since 2019. Prior to holding this position, she was Vice Minister of Social Policy and Evaluation (2016-2018), UNDP Peru Programme Head and leader of the poverty reduction and gender equality area (2013-2016), and UN Coordination Officer (2003-2012) in Peru and Panama. She has also been a university professor of international relations and Latin American political economy in Peru, Colombia and the United States. An economist from Universidad del Pacífico in Peru, she holds M.A. and Ph.D. International Relations degrees from the University of Miami.
