Dee has been with Planned Parenthood in one form or another since 1990, and as part of the international program since 1996. She has over 25 years experience in sexual and reproductive health, with particular experience in organizational development, teen programs, safe abortion services and advocacy. She has published articles and presented widely in Latin America, Africa, Asia, and the US.
With Planned Parenthood Global, Dee leads the program in the Latin America region, and has developed expertise on building civil society capabilities around advocacy for safe and legal abortion, and expanding use of misoprostol in abortion care. She has developed multiple new partnerships and networks, which have produced substantial gains in both progressive policies and expanded access for women around the region. She manages a $6M portfolio, has launched several new civil society organizations and sustainably graduated dozens of programs in seven Latin American countries. Additionally, she is a co-founder of the Latin American Consortium against Unsafe Abortion (CLACAI), and sits on the board of Ibis Reproductive Health. She has also provided training and technical assistance in Africa and Asia.
Dee was a Peace Corps Volunteer in Honduras, where she trained nurses, midwives, community health workers, and peer educators in primary and reproductive health. Additionally, she studied and worked in Mexico where she developed a physical rehabilitation program for rural people with disabilities. She holds degrees in International Development and International Public Health.
